In Giza is een nieuw deel van de lemen muur ontdekt die Thutmosis IV (1400-1390 v.Chr.) rond de Sfinx aanlegde ter bescherming tegen opwaaiend stuifzand. Een deel van de nieuw gevonden muur is 75 cm hoog en loopt over een afstand van 86 meter langs de Valleitempel van koning Cha\u00ebfra, op de oostkant. Het ander deel loopt aan de noordkant over een afstand van 46 meter en is 90 cm hoog.
